Consultation & Case Tracking
ACCR is the only agency in the state of Pennsylvania tracking new death penalty cases.
The PA Department of Corrections and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund keep record of each person only after that individual has been sentenced to death.
Case consultation
We use targeted outreach to provide support, resources and expertise through consultations with the client and their legal team. This can include ensuring that they have a complete team of professionals appointed on the case, connecting them with expert witnesses, and helping them advocate for the time and resources to do their job well.
Please contact us if you have a pretrial capital case.
Case tracking
With the help of the capital defense community, ACCR has been tracking the pre-trial death penalty cases in Pennsylvania from start to finish since 2011. We monitor the number of new cases initiated per year, as well as how the cases resolve, among many other data points. ACCR is the only organization to maintain this information; the PA Department of Corrections and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund keep track only once someone is sentenced to death.
As of June 2026, there are 36 people facing a potential capital trial and death sentence across Pennsylvania’s 67 counties. For more insights, visit “Our Broken System”
For the safety and confidentiality of each person facing a death sentence, we do not publish these records. If you are a reporter, researcher or otherwise interested party, please contact us for more information about pending capital cases.
Work with us.
The work of collecting data on capital cases in Pennsylvania requires close collaboration with defense practitioners on the ground. If you have a capital case and we’re not already in touch, please reach out to us.
