Through systemic litigation and work on individual cases with broad impact, we seek to improve the standard of capital defense and fight prosecutorial misconduct. For example, we currently have a petition asking the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to invoke its powers of Extraordinary Jurisdiction to stop the Washington County district attorney from abusing his discretion in seeking death sentences to coerce guilty pleas, force cooperation from defendants, and accrue political capital.
